That was when Dr. Carmona vowed to himself that he would go back and read the fine print on the Surgeon General job description.

The outgoing surgeon general, Dr. Richard Carmona, has revealed how the Bush administration has been interfering with his work and trying to politicize the message from his office. There have been attempts by previous administrations to influence the surgeon general (Reagan & Clinton), but the nature and scale of what Dr. Carmona describes is at a different level altogether. Shameful.

The nation will need a lot of time to recuperate after this administration leaves office.
